Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, in which we all talk about a bookish topic and have fun making lists.

This week’s topic is “Books I Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed”. Even if my TBR pile is overflowing, I still can’t help but do re-reads.😁 Despite that, I found it difficult to come up with my list for this week but I did it! Here’s my top 10 (though I counted some series as one):

1. Alex by Sawyer Bennett

image

1st impression: Not bad. But nothing special either.

Current stand: I recently added .5⭐on my rating for this book. That thing Alex did for Sutton at the end is LOVE.

2. Transcendence by Shay Savage

image

1st impression: I plowed through this book with gusto. It was amazing and I was totally hooked.

Current stand: I just realized the lack of dialogues on this book and is the more amazed on how on earth is this so good with a somewhat narrative format. I love it more!💜

3. Wildest Dreams by Kristen Ashley

image

1st impression: WOW! Where have you been all my life? I love, love this book!

Current stand: After reading the second book of this series, which I love better than Wildest Dreams, I realized that it’s not that great. I still love it because it made me hooked on this series but not like the first time.

4. The Diviners by Libba Bray

image

1st impression: I felt a lot of emotions and I was so into the book. The suspense and mystery is amazing.

Current stand: I can’t remember details about the book. Too many things happened and I only have a hazy idea about it. I can only remember the feelings I felt while reading this. I realized I like the plot better than the characters which is bad.

5. Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

image

1st impression: I love this book! So funny and the world building is spot on.

Current stand: When I re-read this, I realized how weird is the way they transfer powers.. And the world building is actually shaky. One star down for this.

6. Night World Series (1-9) by L. J. Smith

image

1st impression: Paranormal is love, love, love! The diversity of the characters in this world is amazing! Can’t wait for the last book!

Current stand: I’m not into paranormal at the moment. I waited YEARS for the ending of this book and sorry can’t wait anymore. I was so amazed of this world I was giddily waiting for the grand finale but NOTHING!😭 Now, I don’t care anymore.

7. Mara Dyer Series by Michelle Hodkin

image

1st impression: Wow. The mysteries in this book is so engaging. I love this book.

Current stand: The world/premise building is not great. So many loopholes that I didn’t see on my first read of this series. How did I finish this trilogy?

8. Off-Campus Series by Elle Kennedy

image

1st impression: I adore, love, am crazy, am obsess with these books! Give me more hockey players!🙌

Current stand: After reading a lot of hockey or sport related books, NOTHING can compare! These books are 💙gems💙!

9. Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

image

1st impression: This is my first ever vampire-human-love book and I LOVE IT! Edward is ❤! I love the Cullens! I love the war at the end. The ending is AMAZING!

Current stand: After reading a lot of books, I realized this series is not that great. When I re-read the whole series, I suddenly hated Bella and Jacob. Bella because she’s so… I don’t know, crazy? And Jacob is annoying with the love triangle and all. I HATE love triangles!

10. Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

image

1st impression: WOW! Magical and sooooo amazing!💜 The characters, the plot, the world building are all SPOT ON! J. K. Rowling is the QUEEN!

Current stand:

“After all this time?”

ALWAYS.💜💜💜

My Book Moments For This Week (May16-22)

Moment#1: I finished reading these books.

RE-READ:

image

I decided to re-read Alex because I saw one post saying good things about this. I gave this book 3⭐ when I first read it. Now, after re-reading it, I’m giving it 3.5⭐ which in my book is a huge upgrade, lol. So, I decided to dive into the Cold Fury Series and see if it will keep me interested.

NEW READS:

image

The second book on this series is about Alex’s bestfriend and also a member of the Cold Fury Hockey team. He was an instrument on Alex’s happy ending with Sutton so I have a bit of an interest on who might catch this playboy’s heart. Also it doesn’t hurt that “playboy fell hard and added faithful on his dictionary” is one of my favorite trope, lol.

The insta-love or insta-attraction isn’t much an okay thing for me but still cute. I didn’t like that the somewhat-twist smacked my face on the early part of the book. Too early but I guess it was supposed to be that way or I’ll be hating the female lead.

I felt varying emotions while reading this. I was giddy, giggly, embarrassed, angry, hurt and hopeless. Since it evoked a lot of emotions from me, not to mention I got teary eyed, I’m giving this 4⭐.👍

image

The thing that made me continue to the third book is because of the way the author sort of introduced Zack on the second book. It was tragic and I want to know what will happen after the incident. And he has a cute son named Benjamin or Ben for short. This sort of premise “single father with a cute son” will surely get me.😁

I love dorky, geeky Kate. I totally get her. I was so into this story. I felt my heart clenches (literally) on Zack and Kate and Ben’s behalf. Also, I got teary eyed, again.

Sometimes I want to  punch Zack and also bang Kate’s head or something. I was internally and vocally shouting “FALL IN LOVE ALREADY! WATCHU WAITING FOR?!” on Zack most of the time, lol.

I do get where both of them is coming from, that’s why I’m a mixture of emotions all through out the book. I’m giving the book 4.5⭐.👍👍

image

I decided to read this book because I’ve read a very uhm irate(?) review post on this book. I’m weird so I scanned my reader and there it is! “It can’t be that bad” is what I thought after reading the review post.

Both characters are experiencing grief and honestly not ready for any complication namely each other. The guy did j*rky stuff and innumerable st*pid decisions I just want this book to end. It all boils down to the fact that the main guy is WEAK. In contrast with the main girl who, although is grieving, didn’t do anything face-palming.

I didn’t like how the lead guy treated girls. I’m giving this book uhm 2.5⭐.

Moment#2: Books I’ve forgotten I have read and suddenly remembered because of a blog post.

image

I read this way, way back, like maybe 7-8 years ago (I think). I remember searching for this when the TV series The Secret Circle started. They did not continue the TV series which was not a surprise because I did not like the lead girl. I only managed to finish these books because I’m stubborn, lol.

image

The Night World was a great series. I’m into paranormal too much on my early days of reading that I really loved it. BUT the author didn’t write the last book!🙅 I’m honestly curious when I reached the 7th(?) book on how the author is gonna mixed everything for the grand finale and BAM! The final book (as far as I know) is nowhere to be seen.😭

📘📗📙📘📗📙📘📗📙📘📗📙📘📗

I think this post is too long for me to add my TBR finds like I usually do for my weekly update post. So MAYBE I’ll create another post for my TBR finds this week.😁

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Picked Up On A Whim

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, in which we all talk about a bookish topic and have fun making lists.

It maybe Wednesday here but I really would like to do this meme, so I’m doing it, lol. This week’s topic are “Books I Picked Up On A Whim”. Here are my whimsical picks or reads:

image

– I got interested on this book because of the title and the author. I love Kirsty Moseley, so.. I read this book without knowing even the blurb of this book. And it was worth it.💜

image

– This is a complete cover pick. I don’t even know what it’s all about. It’s still on my TBR.

image

– I just finished The Diviners and I was looking for other books by Libba Bray and this caught my attention because of the cover. Looks contradictory and interesting.

image

– another cover pick and I heard it’s dystopian. I tried to read it and unfortunately, it ended up on my DNF pile. 😥

image

– I’ve seen a post about Black Dagger Brotherhood and decided to try it. Before I started to read this, all I know is that it’s about vampires. And boy was the world inside so surprising, staggering and engaging. This is one of my lucky whimsical reads.👍

image

– the title #Nerd got me and made me pick this one. When I learned the blurb on this book, I was glad I got this book. Upon reading it, I gave it 4⭐.

image

– I honestly don’t know why I added this on my TBR. I haven’t read it but I already own a copy.

image

– this is a cover pick and also I’ve been seeing it for some time on blog posts. I haven’t read it and I’m trying to avoid spoilers. I still don’t know what it’s all about. Hopefully I’ll be positively surprised.

image

– I am into Rick Riordan’s writing that I’m keeping tabs of his works. I thought that Percy Jackson is amazing so maybe The Red Pyramid is also amazing. Well, I guessed wrong. I kinda DNF this book.

image

– the cover seems promising. It has a “hacker vibe”, so I thought it would be cool. I don’t think I’ve read an E. C. Myers book but hopefully, it will be good.

Nostalgia Can Make Me Cry

I kept myself busy with watching television and surfing the net for the whole week. I only managed to finish ONE book. 😓

When my younger cousins switched the channel to Disney Channel, a movie was playing…

image

image from Google

High School Musical first movie! I am a big fan! Troy and Gabriela’s first meeting, the SONGS, the characters, the BREAKING FREE audition at the end and the life lessons presented on this movie!💜

I was a bit emotional. I realized how long it’s been since this movie. My childhood ship is Gabriela and Troy. Lol.

The next day, still on Disney Channel…

image

image from Google

Princess Diaries! One of my favorite princess books and cheesy Cinderella-like movie of all time. After watching this for the nth time, it never fails to make me laugh and cry. Yep, I got teary eyed on Mia’s speech. Go princess!🙋

Now let’s switch to my YouTube finds:

image

image from Google

Do you know these guys? I’m a super fan of STEPS! Like totally!😘 When I accidentally saw one video of theirs in YouTube, I started searching related videos of their songs. I used to have a CD of their Halloween concert and tried to locate it on YouTube and luckily, I found their Vevo. The songs on that concert made me cry and the steps! I danced (again) and followed the steps for each song. It was nostalgic, this is a huge part of my childhood music. I sort of cried.

Then I remembered a movie I’m also fond of because of the songs, the characters and the lesson it gives…

image

image from Google

I give you LEMONADE MOUTH!🍋 The songs are still phenomenal and the characters are adorable!😚 I’m in a musical mood, yeah. 😎

And then the “most nostalgia and cry-inducing” point goes to…

image

image from Google

First ever Digimon! I used to be so loyal in watching this. It’s a kiddie show and that time, this world is sooo amazing on my young mind. My brother and I watched every episode of this faithfully. I used to wish and pray that I will have my own Digimon and I could help save the world. I ship Hikari and Takeru, the youngest kids among the group. I cried when this ended.:'( There was a next season but different kids and I still want the original kids.

💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

That concludes my nostalgic moment this week. Ah, the tears I shed for these shows. Do you know or have you heard of the person/show mentioned in my post?

My Book Moments For This Week (May9-15)

Moment#1: I finished a book.

image

– I had a HUGE reading slump for a whole week. I managed to finish this book The CEO by Shealy James. I’m giving it 3 stars. It wasn’t that bad. I just don’t understand the female lead sometimes. And I was hoping to have the main guy’s POV but nothing. And the title doesn’t even makes sense. It says THE CEO but it didn’t show the main guy’s life as a CEO. The book gave glimpses meaning some phone calls here and there, and that’s it.

Moment#2: Oh, I’ve already read this!

1. Cold Kiss by Amy Garvey – ⭐⭐⭐

Selective Amnesia Will Drive Me Crazy

I’m sitting in front of our television  and busy watching a show. Yep, still not reading anything…😛

This girl, the main protagonist, can’t remember a thing from her childhood. While watching this show, I came upon the scary probability of it happening to me.

Me, having an amnesia and forgetting all the books I’ve ever read or worst forgetting even the fact that I love books? Nooooo!🙉

What am I supposed to be doing in my life if I’m not reading any book? And then I started thinking of all the social media accounts that will be erased in my memory and I started panicking. I went mental and wrote my account details per social media account on my ever reliable notebook..

This bout of craziness stopped when I’m done jotting things down.  *sigh*😆

Then I realized the existence of SELECTIVE AMNESIA (there’s such a thing right? I saw it on TV, lol) and I feared for my self. If I had total amnesia, clean slate and all, I won’t know who I am. But if I can only remember some things, how confuse will I be?😱

Imagine remembering the Golden Trio and thinking they’re your friends, real friends. Or all of my book boyfriends and assuming I met all of them and they’ve fallen for ME. All those fantastical worlds you thought you’ve already visited a lot of times. Those magical items you think will work in the real world. And all those spells J.K. Rowling taught me/us. ⚡

Oh, what if in my selective-amnesia-self I won’t know the difference between real life and my ever broad imagination and then my fangirl life, and ALL the books I’ve ever read. I’ll go crazy!😭

DISASTER. OMG. 😨

Can you guys feel me? 😵

Btw, these emojis are helpful.. Lol.
