Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books I’m Psyching Myself Up To Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, in which we all talk about a bookish topic and have fun making lists.

This week is a free topic week.🙋 After some thinking, I settled for “Ten Books I’m Psyching Myself Up To Read”. These are books that I badly want to read but can’t because of a lot of petty reasons, lol.😁

I thought that maybe, if I put them up in a post, I’ll be more psyched up  to read them..😛

image

Here comes my list:

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

image

I have a feeling that I already started reading this way, way back and wasn’t able to finish it. I’m not a fan of classics but after blogging for some time I kind of see a lot of PrideAndPrejudice references and boy, I CAN’T RELATE. Lol.😁

I need to read this ASAP! 👊

2. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

image

This was recommended by Raven/Beez to me long before the release of The Raven King. I honestly don’t know what’s stopping me from reading this book. The premise is a surefire hooker but I just can’t start it. I really want to start this book series and be in on the fun. I need a source of funsies..👌

3. Cinder by Marissa Meyer

image

This was a hyped up book series I’ve been seeing a lot since I started blogging. I mentioned before that I really really really love Cinderella retellings.💜

That’s why I don’t know what’s keeping me from starting the Lunar Chronicles. Maybe I’m scared of the hype? And it’s my first Marissa Meyer book. Maybe I’m scared. Gawd, I AM SCARED.😿

Be brave Angie. Be brave. *pats left shoulder repeatedly*😁

4. The King by J.R. Ward

image

I’m a total fan of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.👍 The King is the 12th installment of this series. I read the previous 11 and very much invested on the characters and the story. But upon knowing that this is Wrath’s story, I just can’t forced myself to read it. For me, his and Beth’s story ended on book one, they already have their happily ever after, so please don’t mess with it.😒

BUT I have to read this before continuing with the other books in the series. So, just read it girl!👊

5. The House of Hades by Rick Riordan

image

Another part of a well-loved series of mine. I stopped reading on The Mark of Athena (book 3) and at that time, I don’t have a copy of The House of Hades. I was distracted by other books and today I can’t remember much on the first three books. Just thinking of re-reading 3 books before finally reading this is a huge deterrent. BUT Trials of Apollo was already published, need to catch up!🙋

6. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

image

This was in my TBR for some time now and recently I just read some rave reviews for this book from Jill. The premise is interesting, not unique but I REALLY WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE ALIENS. Lol.😁

It’s sort of a quintet I think. I only have the first book and I want to start reading this when I already have all the books on the series. Grow some money dear wallet!👌

7. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

image

How do I explain my relationship with this book? If you’ve been following me for a while now, you’ll know that I DNF this book. As of now, I’m on Chapter 14. I crawled through the book in my attempt to finish it. I’m a bit OCD and I want to read a prequel series for this book which seem to have a better reaction from the blogosphere but I can’t until I’m done with TMI.😿

8. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

image

As you’ve read in #7, you’ve guessed right. This is the prequel for TMI that I want to read, like I want to read this soooo much…😭

But I can’t until I’m done with TMI because I’m weird that way. Lol.😁

9. Angelfall by Susan Ee

image

I’ve read rave reviews for this book. I like the blurb. I’m not that psyched to read this but I already have a copy of all the books on this trilogy, so I need to start this!👊

10. Wild and Free by Kristen Ashley

image

This is another case of “I’ve read the first few books but managed to get a copy after eon years so I can’t remember much and must read the previous ones to reconnect” kind of book. This is the finale on The Three trilogy. I remember enjoying the first two books sooo much but I only remember some details.😿

🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦

This is my week’s TTT. Have you read the books on my post? Do you experience the same problems I have?😛

Share me your thoughts and if you have, your list on the comments. I’ll be happy to read them.🙋

Happy Tuesdays!😘

My Book Moments For This Week (June19-25)

I’m in a quirky Fantasyland Series mood, yeah.😁💜 Where’s my parallel universe love interest? I want my own Drakkar, Prince or Dax!🙋 I recently posted these books semi-synopsis in a post, “semi” because I kind of shortened them because it’s too long for a single post.. If you want to see their descriptions/blurbs, click HERE.😸

1. Wildest Dreams (Fantasyland #1) by Kristen Ashley
2. The Golden Dynasty (Fantasyland #2) by Kristen Ashley
3. Fantastical (Fantasyland #3) by Kristen Ashley
4. Broken Dove (Fantasyland #4) by Kristen Ashley

NEW READ:

1. The Sudden Appearance of  Hope by Claire North – 🌟🌟.5

Goodreads description:

Listen.
All the world forgets me. First my face, then my voice, then the consequences of my deeds.
So listen. Remember me.

My name is Hope Arden, and you won’t know who I am. We’ve met before – a thousand times. But I am the girl the world forgets.

It started when I was sixteen years old. A slow declining, an isolation, one piece at a time.

A father forgetting to drive me to school. A mother setting the table for three, not four. A teacher who forgets to chase my missing homework. A friend who looks straight through me and sees a stranger.

No matter what I do, the words I say, the people I hurt, the crimes I commit – you will never remember who I am.

That makes my life tricky. But it also makes me dangerous . . .

That premise is so promising, I was giddily waiting for the right time to read this. This book was one of my “May Gem Finds” and unfortunately, it DID NOT DELIVER.😾

I loved The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by the same author, totally loved it. That’s why I have HIGH expectations for this book and with that blurb, it was skyscraper-like kind of expectations. I WAS SOOO DISAPPOINTED.😭

I read some reviews after I finished reading this and I somehow belong to the minority.😮 All I can say is that I was imagining the story to go North and it totally went South.:o

🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦

So, for this week, a total of 5 books. Not bad I guess. It’s a good thing I re-read the Fantasyland Series or I’ll be in a pissy mood for the whole week because of TSAoH..

Have a great weekend friends!😘

When You’re Just Browsing A Book And Ended Up Reading The Whole Series

I’m in a weird mood lately.. It’s like I don’t want to read a new book but instead do re-reads. You know where it’s safe and all. Lol.😁

With this weird mood of mine, I decided to explore my goodreads account and learned that one of my most anticipated book will be released in August 15, 2016 (is this correct?) and this cover:

image

Waaahhhh! Come to me NOW! I literally dance like some psycho when I saw this.✌

So to prep myself for this book, I decided to familiarize myself (again) with the 4 previous books because there were LOTS of things that happened.

1. Wildest Dreams (Fantasyland #1) by Kristen Ashley

image

Goodreads rating: 4.22🌟

Seoafin “Finnie” Wilde was taught by her parents that every breath was a treasure and to seek every adventure she could find. And she learns this lesson the hard way when they perish in a plane crash. But she never forgets and when she discovers there is a parallel universe where every person has a twin, she finds a witch who can send her there so she can have the adventure of a lifetime.

But upon arrival in the Winter Wonderland of Lunwyn, she realizes she’s been played by her twin and finds herself walking down the aisle to be wed to The Drakkar.

I shortened the description because it’s too long and I still have 3 books to add…😸 Anyway, I was just planning to browse this book but because it’s too good, magical, hot, fantastical, sooo COOL! I ended up reading the whole book.😁

“You’re beyond my wildest dreams.”😭

2. The Golden Dynasty (Fantasyland #2) by Kristen Ashley

image

Goodreads rating: 4.49🌟

Circe Quinn goes to sleep at home and wakes up in a corral filled with women wearing sacrificial virgin attire – and she is one of them. She soon finds out that she’s not having a wild dream, she’s living a frightening nightmare where she’s been transported to a barren land populated by a primitive people and in short order, she’s installed very unwillingly on her white throne of horns as their Queen.

Circe and Lahn are separated by language, culture and the small fact she’s from a parallel universe and has no idea how she got there or how to get home…

“I gave up a whole world for you.”😭

3. Fantastical (Fantasyland#3) by Kristen Ashley

image

Goodreads rating: 4.30🌟

Cora Goode has woken up in a fairytale world where she can understand what birds are saying to her, men ride horses and have fluffy feathers in their hats and furniture zigs, zags and whirls in miracles of construction.

The problem is, she thinks she’s in a dream but she’s actually taken the place of the parallel universe Cora and without realizing it, our Cora does something that starts a centuries old curse that will sweep the land if she gets captured.

Unfortunately, hot guy, fantasyland Noctorno doesn’t like the Cora of his world all that much (to say the least) and he thinks our Cora is her. And no matter what our Cora says or does to try to convince him, he won’t be convinced..

In this world, you are the only one I have …”😭

4. Broken Dove (Fantasyland #4) by Kristen Ashley

image

Goodreads rating: 4.29🌟

Far too young, Apollo Ulfr lost Ilsa, his wife, the love of his life and the mother of his two children. The grief of her loss does not settle in his soul, it solders to it. But when he discovers there is a parallel universe where his wife may have a twin, he feels there’s hope and sets about bringing her to his world so he can have her back.

But Ilsa Ulfr of our world is married to the parallel universe’s twin, Pol, who is not a good man. Not in any way. She’s on the run from him and the last thing she wants is to be transported to a fantastical world and be forced to take his side as his wife, even if he is not Pol. And Apollo finds the broken, bitter Ilsa nothing like his beloved and he further wants nothing to do with her.

So this is what happy feels like.”😭

🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦

So, I ended up reading all 4 books, cover to cover. Lol.😁

Anyone out there who had read or is at least familiar with Kristen Ashley’s Fantasyland Series? I need someone to fangirl with, like seriously!🙇

Or maybe, you can give this Fantasyland Series a chance and we can ALL fangirl together.😍

My Book Moments For This Week (June12-18)

Moment#1: I finished these books.

image

1. Play with Me by Marian Tee –  🌟🌟.5
I didn’t feel connected to the characters.. Insta-love is meh. It lacks something… I can’t still figure out what.

image

2. Matchmaker’s Playbook by Rachel Van Dyken – 🌟🌟🌟.5
The concept was unique. It was okay but not outstanding. It has good points and funny moments.

image

3. Taming the Tycoon by Amy Andrews – 🌟🌟🌟.5
An okay read. Stresses the importance of spending your time on things that really matters and not on superficial things.

image

4. Babe in Boyland by Jody Gehrman – 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Cute premise! I totally like it. It was short but cute and funny. And it made me realize a lot of things. Boys are really mysterious entities. Lol.

image

5. A Kiss At Midnight by Eloisa James – 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5
I love this story! See my review HERE. 🙋

Moment#2: My Vague Memory.

During this week, a book triggered a memory of another book I’ve read. I can’t remember the title of the book but I’m quite sure it was a book that blew my mind. So here’s what I remember from the story:

They are a group of students trying to rebuild historical ruins. They were commissioned by a wealthy man into a top secret project. They are to be sent via principles of quantum physics to the past so they will be accurate on the restoration of the ruins. But a lot of things went wrong.

… something like that. It’s a time travel kind of book. Anyone who knows the title of this book? I CAN’T REMEMBER.🙇

Moment#3: Shining Moment.
