My Bookish Update (Nov1-12)

Today marks my 8th month of book blogging here in WordPress. πŸŽ‚

It has been a very buuusy time for me. But I managed to read a lot of books, yey!πŸ™Œ

Β

❀RE-READ❀
1. The Host by Stephenie Meyer

– why am I wasting my time re-reading books? I can’t stop, haha.😁 I read a book resembling The Host and it made me visit Wanda and Ian again.. Ahhh.. The nostalgia, I still love it.πŸ‘

❀NEW READS❀
1. Until Lily by Aurora Rose Reynolds – 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

-Wow. 😍 I really love this!πŸ’œ I knew Cash and Lilly’s story will be unique because of the preview on Until Trevor and also since I mistakenly read Jax’s story first. I love the presence of kids and a psycho ex-wife. I love the emotions involved and it made me feel mushy inside. Love it.πŸ˜†

I love that Nico is next. With his work, I’m sure it will be more action packed.πŸ˜»πŸ‘

2. Until Nico by Aurora Rose Reynolds – 🌟🌟🌟🌟

– I was expecting a bit more action on this book but still I loved it.πŸ’œ it was a whirlwind romance and a lot of problems was thrown in their way. I love how protective Nico is on Sophie. Actually all the Mayson brothers are pretty much protective. The ‘boom’ is a folklore at first until all the Mayson brothers experienced it. Can’t wait for the next generations.πŸ’œ

3. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey – 🌟🌟🌟🌟 .5

“A shark who dreamed he was a man.”😭

I loooove this book, sooooo much!😍

Evan, my love! You’re sooo cute!😘 You too Nugget! *hugs*

It’s been so long since I read a post apocalyptic / science fiction kind of book. It was refreshingly intense. I almost gave up on this but Evan made it better.. A lot better. 😻

Finishing this book made me read two book with the same premise as this: The Host and Warm Bodies.πŸ™Œ

4. Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion – 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

– I love R. 😍 I already watched the movie but it was still a great experience diving into this book. It was a bit different on the movie and the refreshing differences made me love it.πŸ’œ

*Then for some reason I tried reading paranormal romances and they all made me want to bash my head on the wall or the blasphemous act of burning a book. Here goes.*

5. Surrendering by K.L. Kreig – 🌟🌟.5

– It has a generic plot. It’s a bit interesting. Some disturbing scenes and the world building is shaky. All in all okay but not great.

Β

– DID NOT FINISH –

1. Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

I can’t get past the writing, sorry.

*SPOILER AHEAD WARNING*

And the main guy (can’t remember his name) strangled the oh so whiny and obnoxious heroine, TWICE. I DON’T CARE.πŸ™…

2. Burning Alive by Shannon K. Butcher

– World building sucks.πŸ‘Ž

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Β

So far, I’ve read 5 new books. *feels accomplished*πŸ™‹

I have some DNFs but still a lot of great books. I’m binge reading before the dreaded reading slump strucks me. Haha.😁

Hope you guys have a nice reading time too. Happy weekends.😘

Oh, please comment on what you think about the books on this post. I’ll be happy to read and reply to them.;)

      • I know about The Chemist…I almost wanted to read it but I’m not a thriller reader really…I have pretty much loved all her books but this is so different. It’s on sale this weekend for only $5 and I STILL can’t bring myself to read it! πŸ˜‚
She should go back to her roots and write what her fans like!

      • I wish she’ll write a sequel for The Host, even just one book. Or maybe, she should continue Midnight Sun. That one was promising.❀

        I don’t read thrillers too. It’s a once-in-a-blue-moon thing for me, lol.😁

      • Yes, I feel like she decided once Midnight Sun was leaked she was going to turn her back on her fans. She was like, I’m done with vamps and aliens…now to be a “serious” author. When this book gets panned, maybe she’ll go back to her roots. I haven’t read Twilight reimagined but I own it…so I haven’t seen what that’s all about, but it didn’t get good reviews.

      • I already read Twilight Reimagined, it didn’t work for me, it was lame. I didn’t like it.
        😒

I really would have preferred a sequel to The Host or her finishing Midnight Sun than this The Chemist of hers…

      • I know. I am worried about the negative reception to the reimagined version as putting her off of writing anymore books in the YA genre. I think she did that as a test to see if people would flock to it, and since so many ppl panned it, she prob won’t return to YA again.
I’m sad about it. I really liked her books. And I refuse to purchase Chemist. I hope it flops!

      • Majority of people did not like the reimagined version because it’s almost the same as the original one. She just swapped the names and some minor changes, oh and a different ending. That’s it. That’s why it felt like you were robbed or something. It was not worth it.πŸ‘Ž

I won’t buy The Chemist because I’m not into that kind of genre and I’m sure I won’t like it..

      • Yeah, me either. I think she will learn that she needs to write to her fan base and not her “wannabe” fan base. I think she is starting to think that YA isn’t “grown up” or “sophisticated” and it’s sad bc most ppl who are from the “YA isn’t a good genre” crowd don’t like her writing (they think she has no talent).
I feel like she’s trying to prove something…you know?

      • Yeah, I get you.. I think she’s trying to prove that she’s a versatile writer? or maybe she already outgrew YA writing or something like that.. Not sure.. But I wish she won’t try that hard, I like her previous books, specially The Host.. and besides a lot of people read YA.. πŸ™‚

      • I just read Ola’s review and I can see that The Chemist really isn’t for me,haha. πŸ™‚ I can sense that there is no depth on this book. And thriller/suspense are not really my thing so, not interested to read this book of hers…

        Liked by 1 person

      • Oh, I’m glad you read the review! Yeah, after that I was def on the not for me train!
What’s funny is on Amazon it has some good reviews! And some on Goodreads too! I don’t get it because it sounds horrible! I really want to know what makes these certain people like it so much! πŸ˜•πŸ€”

      • I guess, though the book reviews make it sound so “not” thriller-y. She plays house with a boy she tortures, talks about how “in lurve” she is (yes, lurve, not love, lol), and then it ends abruptly. Jas wants to buddy read it with someone…I just can’t do it!
I wonder if all the positive reviews are from the die-hard Meyer fans that would love anything she writes? πŸ€”

      • Agreed! But the good news is Jillian from rantandraveaboutbooks.com is doing a review just for me, bc I make fun of this book so much! I can’t wait to see it! I’ll have to share it when she posts it. I’m going to die laughing!

    • The Host and 5th Wave was an enjoyable read for me.❀

Me and Darkfever (written by Karen Marie Moning) unfortunately didn’t click. 😦

Warm Bodies was made into a movie. It was just recently I learned that it was based on a book.❀
