Ebook Haul #2 (2021)

Hi friends!๐Ÿค—

It’s another ebook haul! Yes, I’m still scouring the Kindle store for free books.๐Ÿ˜…

Anyway, I think this will be a regular thing on my blog. It’s fun searching for free books on the Kindle store. I only download those that interests me.๐Ÿ˜›

I kinda tweak things a bit. I’m grouping the books via genre or type or any logical grouping that I can think of. I haven’t read them so I can’t be sure but the groupings should be a bit accurate.๐Ÿ˜

Now onto the books I got from the Kindle store and also some ARCs I got from NetGalley. The book cover images are all from Goodreads. Click the covers to direct you to their respective Goodreads page.

TBR Finds #4 (2020)

Hello book friends!ย ๐Ÿ˜€

Iโ€™ve added a lot of books onย my Goodreads to-read shelf recently and very excited to tell you guys. Majority of these books has a fantasy element on it. Hope youโ€™ll find something interesting here. ๐Ÿ˜€

Click on the titleย to lead you on their respective Goodreads page. All book cover images credits to Goodreads. Here are the books that caught my interest recently:

1.) Restart by Gordon Korman

Details: 15,873 ratings -> 2,385 reviews -> 4.23 stars

Reason/s for interest: I’m quite interested with stories tackling amnesia and also I think it will also touch the topic of bullying. I’m very curious. ๐Ÿ˜€

2.) The Memory Police by Yลko Ogawa, Translated by Stephen Snyder

Details: 13,574 ratings -> 2,249 reviews -> 3.74 stars

Reason/s for interest: memories can be stolen and the title itself: The Memory Police. ๐Ÿ™‚

3.) The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin

Details: 50,209 ratings -> 5,315 reviews -> 3.85 stars

Reason/s for interest: Not actually sure why I added this, I guess because of the author. ๐Ÿ˜†

4.) The Light Between Worlds by Laura E. Weymouth

Details: 2,691 ratings -> 842 reviews -> 3.77 stars

Reason/s for interest: That cover. Transported to another world theme and a story of sisters. ๐Ÿ™‚

5.) Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett

Details: 16,753 ratings -> 2,781 reviews -> 4.25 stars

Reason/s for interest: It has high ratings and I keep on seeing this book everywhere. Also, I heard the magic system is awesome. From the blurb:ย the art of using coded commands to imbue everyday objects with sentience. ๐Ÿ˜€

6.) Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

Details: 341 ratings -> 344 reviews -> 4.03 stars

Reason/s for interest: Did you know that I’ve only learned that this was a thing last week? I was shocked that it will be finally published. ๐Ÿ˜† I’m actually excited to read this. The nostalgia. ๐Ÿ˜‰

=======================================================================

Again, as a disclaimer: the details of the books are only reliable on the time I posted this post because they would have surely changed after some days. On my last TBR Finds post my to-read shelf contains 394 books. At the moment the books on my to-read shelf on Goodreads is —> 392, I removed some of the books I’m no longer interested in. ๐Ÿ™‚img_20160804_194135_700.jpg

TBR Finds #3 (2020)

Hello lovely friends! ๐Ÿ˜€

If you’re new to my blog, TBR Finds is where I post my recently added books on my Goodreads to-read shelf, I also add details about the book in the hopes that someone reading might also find it interesting. Recently, yours truly finally gave in and created a NetGalley account. ๐Ÿ˜†

So, the books I’ll be mentioning are books I discovered in NetGalley. Click on the title to lead you on their respective Goodreads page. All book cover images credits to Goodreads. Here are the books that caught my interest recently:

1.) Life on Repeat by Amy Larson Marble

Details: 20 ratings -> 17 reviews -> 3.90 stars

Publication Date: February 20, 2020

Reason/s for interest: This book is under the ‘Read Now’ section and the first book I downloaded from NetGalley. The cover isn’t that good but the title totally catches my attention. Part of the blurb that interested me the most: “How would you live your life if you knew it wasnโ€™t your only one? Would you do anything differently if you knew you would have to do it all again?”ย  I love premises like this. Can’t wait. ๐Ÿ˜€

2.) Nowhere on Earth by Nick Lake

Details: 132 ratings -> 55 reviews ->ย  3.76 stars

Publication Date: May 26, 2020

Reason/s for interest: This book is also under the ‘Read Now’ section and the second book I downloaded on NetGalley. I love the cover but the main hook is the premise: Emily found a little boy (Aidan) wandering in the woods. She knows she needs to help him find his way home. But getting home is no easy matter, especially with Emily finds out that Aidan isn’t even from Earth.ย Sounds so cute. ๐Ÿ˜€

3.) Happily Whatever After by Stewart Lewis

Details: 13 ratings -> 8 reviews -> 3.46 stars

Publication Date: July 28, 2020

Reason/s for interest: This book is also under the ‘Read Now’ section and the third book I downloaded on NetGalley. The cover and story is cute, there are pets in the story. I wanted to read a cutesy romance and this seems to fit the bill. Also, the publishing date is still 4 months away so I have enough time. Right? ๐Ÿ˜€

4.) The Order of the Pure Moon Reflected in Water by Zen Cho

Details: 63 ratings -> 41 reviews -> 4.10 stars

Publication Date: June 23, 2020

Reason/s for interest: This book is under the ‘Available For Request’ section and my first ever book request on NetGalley. At the moment that I’m writing this post, status is still pending. I don’t have high hopes to be accepted because I just created my account but very excited for this book. ๐Ÿ˜† O.M.G. That cover is amazing! ๐Ÿฅฐ And the premise: ย family wuxia fantasy that combines the vibrancy of old school martial arts movies with characters drawn from the margins of history.ย I got hooked on Chinese light novels last 2018 and ever since then, I continuously read them. They are generally long but this one is short. Can’t wait! ๐Ÿ˜€

5.) The Human Son by Adrian J. Walker

Details: 10 ratings -> 10 reviews -> 4.20 stars

Publication Date: April 28, 2020

Reason/s for interest: This book is also under the ‘Available For Request’ section but I didn’t request for it. I did add it on my Goodreads though. Also the publication date felt so near and I felt like it would be pushing it if I add another book on my NetGalley shelf. This is Dystopia and Science Fiction. It has a kid on it with a futuristic setting, so I’m in. ๐Ÿ™‚

=======================================================================

Again, as a disclaimer: the details of the books are only reliable on the time I posted this post because they would have surely changed after some days. I didn’t go crazy on my first try of NetGalley, haha. But it was fun browsing the catalog. On my last TBR Finds post my to-read shelf contains 376 books. At the moment the books on my to-read shelf on Goodreads is uhm… 394. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

The Questions:

  • A book that a certain friend is always telling you to readย
  • A book thatโ€™s been on your TBR forever and yet you still havenโ€™t picked it up
  • A book in a series youโ€™ve started, but havenโ€™t gotten round to finishing yet
  • A classic youโ€™ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read
  • A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read
  • A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but you just havenโ€™t read it yetย
  • A book you see all over Instagram but havenโ€™t picked up yet

My Answers:

1.) A book that a certain friend is always telling you to read

-> Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard and The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

credits to goodreads credits to goodreads

-> My friends know that I read books when their hype is no longer that high so they recommend old-ish books that they think I will enjoy. These two are among the many recommendations I received. These are series starters and I don’t dare start another series again without completing any of my pending ones. So, not yet.

2.) A book thatโ€™s been on your TBR forever and yet you still havenโ€™t picked it up

->A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle and The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

credits to goodreads credits to goodreads

-> For A Wrinkle in Time, I needed to be in the mood for it and for The Hidden Oracle, I wanted to finish The Blood of Olympus first before jumping into The Trials of Apollo series(?).

3.) A book in a series youโ€™ve started, but havenโ€™t gotten round to finishing yet

-> Shades of Midnight by Lara Adrian and Branded by Fire by Nalini Singh

credits to goodreads credits to goodreads

-> These two are both Paranormal Romance / Urban Fantasy. They are book 7 and book 6 respectively of two amazing series that I enjoyed and loved. It was hard for me to resume reading them because on this part of the series, usually a lot of dreadful things are happening that I’m quite stressed about it. Soon, I’ll bravely dive in back into these worlds. ๐Ÿ˜†

4.) A classic youโ€™ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read

-> The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan

credits to goodreads

-> This one is very interesting for me but I only have the first book and it has a lot of books on the series and I’m a bit intimidated that’s why I haven’t started it yet.

5.) A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read

-> A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin and The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

credits to goodreads credits to goodreads

-> For the both of them, I’m very much intimidated by the seemingly complex world and also the length of these novels.

6.) A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but you just havenโ€™t read it yet

-> The War of the Worlds byย H.G. Wells

credits to goodreads

-> I don’t usually watch the film/TV adaptation before reading the book it is based from but on this case, I never knew (yes, I’m living under a rock ๐Ÿ˜† ) that The War of the Worlds is based on a book. I just thought it was a creepy yet a great film. ๐Ÿ˜€

7.) A book you see all over Instagram but havenโ€™t picked up yet

-> The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Recursion by Blake Crouch

credits to goodreads credits to goodreads

-> I don’t usually read books with genre like that of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, I did add it on my tbr because it was very much praised and call me curious. ๐Ÿ˜€ For Recursion, I need the right mood to read sci-fi but this one is on the top of my priority list for books under the sci-fi genre.

=======================================================================

That’s it friends! This was long and took me some time to write, what with the links and images and I needed to think deeply on my answers. ๐Ÿ˜†

Do we have common answers? Have you read any of the books on this post or maybe are they also on your tbr?

I TAG YOU. EVERYONE. ๐Ÿ˜€

TBR Finds #2 (2020)

Hello book friends!ย ๐Ÿ˜€

I’ve added a lot of books on my Goodreads to-read shelf recently and very excited to tell you guys. Majority of these books are under YA fantasy genre. Hope you’ll find something interesting here. I might post another one focusing on New Adult Romance but we’ll see. ๐Ÿ˜†

Click on the title to lead you on their respective Goodreads page. Here are the books that caught my interest recently:

1.) Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan

Details: 165,914 ratings -> 24,574 reviews -> 3.75 stars

credits to goodreads

Reason/s for interest: Magical library. That’s it. You got me.

2.) Havenfall by Sara Holland

Details: 329 ratings -> 252 reviews -> 3.87 stars

Reason/s for interest: This is fairly new and the part of the blurb that is the most interesting for me is: Hidden deep in the mountains of Colorado lies the Inn at Havenfall, a sanctuary that connects ancient worlds–each with their own magic–together. Can’t wait. ๐Ÿ˜€

3.) Thorn by Intisar Khanani

Details: 4,860 ratings -> 815 reviews -> 4.01 stars

credits to goodreads

Reason/s for interest: It is a fairy tale retelling of a princess whose identity was snatched from her so she decided to be a goose girl. That wasn’t a good way to say it but I love swapped lives premise, so very excited for this.

4.) Reborn Yesterday by Tessa Bailey

Details: 7 ratings -> 8 reviews -> 4.86 stars

credits to goodreads

Reason/s for interest: This is super new. That cover is adorbs. The blurb on goodreads say: standalone paranormal romantic comedy with a happily ever after.ย I’m sold. ๐Ÿ™‚

5.) Wicked As You Wish by Rin Chupeco

Details: 346 ratings -> 226 reviews -> 3.22 stars

credits to goodreads

Reason/s for interest: I’m guessing/hoping it has Filipino folk lore flavor on it.ย

6.) The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

Details: 81 ratings -> 129 reviews -> 4.10 stars

Reason/s for interest: This one doesn’t have a cover yet. But the premise is so interesting for me: When Addie La Rue makes a pact with the devil, she trades her soul for immortality. But there’s always a price – the devil takes away her place in the world, cursing her to be forgotten by everyone.

=======================================================================

By the way, the details of the books are only reliable on the time I posted this post because they would have surely changed after some days. Current books on my to-read shelf on my Goodreads is 376 . I’m trying to manage my tbr. I’m trying. ๐Ÿ˜†

What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think youโ€™ll read next?

The Archived – This is my first Victoria Schwab and so far it is very action packed and interesting. The world building is nice and it is very vivid for me. I can imagine myself in the world and it was very easy to imagine what’s happening.

RECENTLY FINISHED:

1.) Slave to Sensation – this one is a re-read for me, still a 5 star read. It was my 5th time reading it. ๐Ÿ˜† The cover looks weird and the synopsis is also weird but I took a leap of faith and never looked back since. For fans of Paranormal Romance or Urban Fantasy, I highly recommend! ๐Ÿ˜€ My review-ish .

2.) Be Mine Forever – this was free on amazon and has the single father trope on it so why not? Unfortunately, it was just a 3 star read for me. The ‘romance’ is too fast and the plot is meh (for me). My thoughts on it if anyone’s interested.

READING NEXT:

So I’ve been reading a mix of genres lately. I’m just in a mood to read EVERYTHING, ANYTHING, and just happy to read. ๐Ÿ˜€ I might try fantasy next, maybe The Color of Magic ?
